Rumor Mill: Nintendo Wii U Launches on November 11

A source inside Video Product Distributors, a company that supplies some of the stock for retail-focused stores like Blockbuster and Amazon, has revealed that the upcoming Nintendo Wii U will be launched on November 11 in North America.

The source has seen the internal pages that list upcoming releases and says that there are three Wii U bundles prepared by Video Product Distributors, priced from 249.99 dollars (199.4 Euro) for what appears to be the core version of the console to 349.99 dollars (279.1 Euro) for a top of the line version which might have extra touch screen controllers or more bundled games.

The prices and the November 11 date are only linked to the North American market and it’s not clear when the Wii U might be launched in Europe or in Japan.

Nintendo itself has refused to comment on the date offered by Video Product Distributors so far, but the company has a policy of denying all information that’s leaked about its products.

The Wii U currently lacks an actual launch date, although Nintendo has said that the new home console will be out on all major markets before the end of the year.

The company also refuses to offer an official price point, although that might change after an event that will take place on September 13.

The Wii U is designed to offer the same computing power as the current consoles from Microsoft and Sony, allowing it to comfortably run titles like Mass Effect 3 or Assassin’s Creed 3, while also adding a new touch screen powered controller.

Publishers like Electronic Arts and Ubisoft have announced that they are planning Wii U launch support.

Neither of the two rival hardware makers has so far offered official information on their next-generation consoles and analysts have suggested that they might only be launched in 2014.
