Over 30 Laptops Stolen from Wounded Warrior Project in Jacksonville

On the night of July 25, someone broke into the Jacksonville headquarters of the Wounded Warrior Project and stole 33 (maybe more) laptops and an iPad. The devices contained the personal details of “some” of the former employees.

According to the organization’s representatives, the equipment is worth around $27,000 (22,000 EUR) and they believe that the crooks most likely wanted to sell the computers, not the information stored on them.

Furthermore, the company’s IT team has “locked” all the stolen devices to ensure that the information stored on them could not be retrieved, Jacksonville.com reports.

However, potential victims have been offered free credit monitoring just in case the burglars have managed to lay their hands on data.

If the Wounded Warrior Project did in fact encrypt all the information stored on their devices, we applaud their initiative and recommend them as a positive example to others.
