Nokia Lumia 900 Arrives in India at Rs 32,999 ($603 / 463)

Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has just made available for purchase its current Windows Phone flagship device, the Nokia Lumia 900, for users in India.

The handset comes months after the arrival of three other Windows Phone devices from Nokia, namely the Lumia 800, Lumia 710 and Lumia 610, and features a price tag of Rs 32,999 (around $600 / €463).

According to a recent article on The Mobile Indian, Nokia has actually delayed the release of Lumia 900 in the country for about three months.

The handset arrived on shelves in the local market without support for 4G networks, but it will still have to offer impressive data transfer speeds (up to 42 Mbps), the news site reports.

However, it appears that users won’t be able to enjoy the fast connectivity capabilities of the smartphone, as mobile networks in the country can deliver maximum data speeds of 21 Mbps.

Featuring a large 4.3-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 480×800 WVGA resolution, the handset is seen as the most appealing Nokia Windows Phone available today.

The Nokia Lumia 900 is powered by a single-core 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon application processor complemented by 512MB of RAM.

It also sports 16GB of internal memory, without a microSD memory card slot that would allow users to expand it.

Nokia also packed the new device with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, capable of recording videos at a 720p HD resolution, as well as with a front camera for making video calls while on the go.

Nokia’s Lumia 900 is powered by the Windows Phone 7.5 operating system, but it is expected to receive an update to Windows Phone 7.8 in the not too distant future, providing its users with a taste of some of the enhancements that the new Windows Phone 8 platform will hit shelves with.
