Marvell Intros the Amazing DragonFly Card

The concepts of Marvell’s new DragonFly platform are truly impressive and the logic behind the hardware implementation seems so natural that you wonder why so many SSD, RAID and storage expert companies haven't done this before.

The reality is that Marvell has a huge experience with processors, memory, RAID, enterprise storage, ARM architecture and SSD controllers that it is in an unique position to combine the best of all these sectors into a single market-defining product.

The DragonFly platform allows the server designer or administrator to use SSDs for caching without the usual problems with low write speeds and the derived slowdowns.

Moreover, the Marvell DragonFly will offer DRAM write speeds in a NV-DRAM or NVRAM manner that will rid the user from worries about power failures and the errors that occur with these.

The DragonFly comes with 4 GB or 8 GB of ECC DRR3 memory mounted on a standard SO-DIMM that is always milliseconds away from a quick back-up on the integrated 32 GB of Micron SLC NAND.
