LG Patents Mobile UI for Flexible Screens

Flexible displays are not being used in mobile devices as much as we would like them to be, but there might come a time when they will be.

In preparation for that, South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics filed to patent a user interface that would go along with flexible screens.

In fact, the company has just received the patent for its invention, which was filed back in 2008, and which involves two displays, one meant to be flexible while the other being touch-enabled.

Depending on how the user bends the first display, the touchscreen reacts. Moreover, one would be able to use the displays independently as well.

As Engadget notes, it remains to be seen whether a smartphone to include such technology will indeed be launched, but it’s a good thing that someone thought of it.
