It's Been 14 Years Since the First Google Doodle, a "Gone Fishing" Sign

Google doodles are so common that they don't raise any eyebrows anymore. What's more, they're becoming increasingly complex and interesting.

These days, they're used to celebrate special moments or special people.

But the very first doodle, hanged on the Google homepage 14 years ago, was basically a "gone fishing" sign.

But this being Google, the company's founders didn't go fishing, they went to the Burning Man festival which takes place at the end of August and has become a staple of the Silicon Valley tech industry elite.

Just in case something happened while they were gone, with no one to take care of things, the doodle was supposed to act as an explanation.
