Heres the iPhone 5 Battery Taller, Thinner, Ligther

We really can’t complain about this year’s iPhone leaks. They’re so abundant we don’t even know where to start sometimes. And Tim Cook’s “doubling down on secrecy” isn’t exactly unfolding as planned.

With only a week away from the iPhone 5 unveiling, repair shop iResQ is back with yet another leak â€" the phone’s battery.

“Along with all of the other parts that we have already assembled, we have placed the iPhone 5's battery where we think it will fit. And guess what, it is a perfect fit yet again,” says the company.

iResQ then proceeds to outline some key differences between the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 4S batteries.

For example, the company says “the iPhone 5's battery is slightly less than a half an inch taller than the iPhone 4S,” while “the thickness appears to be identical.”

They follow up with an update to clarify that “Although, the thickness appears to be the same, the iPhone 5 battery is ever so slightly thinner. With an eye test, the iPhone 5 battery is maybe 1-2mm thinner,” iReQ says.

Of course, 1-2 millimeters is not a negligible difference for such a small part. In fact, if the iPhone 5’s battery is indeed this thin, the difference is substantial.

Moving on to the voltage, the iPhone 5’s Li-Ion battery pack is 3.8V/5.45Whr while the iPhone 4S battery is a 3.7V/5.3Whr model.

“The connector on the iPhone 5 is not only different, it is placed on the opposite side of the battery to accommodate its new position within the iPhone,” iResQ adds.

Finally, a difference in weight was also observable. “The iPhone 5 battery weighs approximately .80oz. The iPhone 4S battery is approximately .96oz,” noted the repair shop.
