DELL Prepares U2913WM 29 Monitor

We reported here on the strange ultra-wide (UW) monitors from Philips and it seems like the trend is gaining some impulse from DELL too as the American computer maker is getting ready to launch its own UW 29-incher.

The ultra-wide monitors have a very strange format, but the display companies have found the cinema screen as the excuse to push these down our throats.

Basically, after claiming that 1920 by 1200 or 16 by 10 was the quintessential cinematic format, after switching to the “new and improved” 1920 by 1080 or 16 by 9 “cinematics,” now the display makers have the 21 by 9 ultra-wide monitors for us.

Some gamers like the new monitors as do some cinema fans, but we have difficulty in recommending them over any decent 27” monitor with a WQHD resolution that actually has superior image quality and comparable screen surface despite the smaller diagonal size.

DELL’s new display is reportedly called U2913WM and it will likely feature an IPS panel with the unpopular 2560 by 1080 pixel resolution and will also come with rich connectivity options.
