Bucket List Bandit Caught in Florida After Robbing 10 Banks

Michael Brewster robbed 10 banks in 9 different states during the last 3 months. Every time, the 54-year-old man from Pensacola, Florida told bank tellers he only had months to live.

The arrest was made by the Roland (Oklahoma) Police Department in Roland, Oklahoma on Thursday, after the man was pulled over during a routine traffic stop.

It turned out that the car he was driving had been reported stolen in Florida, and its Utah license plates were fake, ABC News informs.

“Brewster is suspected of robbing as many as 10 banks over the last three months in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Utah, North Carolina, Tennessee, Illinois, Missouri, and Pennsylvania,” the FBI state on their website.

A federal warrant had been issued for his arrest after he hit the Huntington National Bank in Erie, Pennsylvania on September 10.

Assistant Police Chief David Goode found cash covered in red dye and a loaded .38-caliber handgun in the vehicle Brewster was driving at the time of the arrest.

After the bank job in Pennsylvania, the FBI reached out to the public to identify this man by putting up posters, alerting TV outlets and posting pictures of him on the Internet.

By Wednesday, they were already swimming in tips sending them off on wild goose chases, until his former landlord called and ID-ed him.

The man told ABC News that Brewster had been living in his apartment in Pensacola, until he was evicted on June 14.

Michael and brother Gary Brewster are known con men. They were arrested before for a fake check scam in Cincinnati. Though Michael had never been convicted, Gary served 4 years in prison in Ohio for forgery, possession and tampering with evidence. He was released from jail in 2007, HuffPost reports.

None of the witnesses was hurt in the robberies pulled by Brewster. His family described him as a calm and good-tempered man that has his share of shortcomings.

“He's a nice guy, but kind of conniving,” the suspect's niece, Amanda Brewster, said.
