Afghanistan Blocks YouTube Over Mohammad Movie

YouTube has a long history of being blocked in all sorts of places, usually for just one video. It's happening again in Afghanistan, but at least, this time around you can sort of see where they're coming from. The Afghan government decide to block the site, temporarily, to prevent violence.

The cause is one video insulting Prophet Mohammad. Muslim countries have a habit of igniting at this type of provocation and, already, the US ambassador in Libya and few other embassy members were killed over the matter.

It's no ordinary video though, the two-hour movie depicts the prophet as a womanizer and killer among other things. The US embassy in Cairo has also been attacked.

Fearing more violence and condemning the movie as a "devilish act," Afghanistan decided to block YouTube entirely. It's probably not going to be the last to do so.
