300 Sequel Gets Official Title

Though fans of the 2006 hit film “300” have little to no hopes that a sequel would fare as well at the box office and with critics, it’s happening nonetheless. Warner Bros. has unveiled the official name for it.

Until now, the follow-up was initially titled “Battle of Artemisia” but the studio has had a change of heart, The Hollywood Reporter informs.

It will come out as “300: Rise of an Empire” and, as we informed you a while back, it won’t feature Gerard Butler as lead.

Instead, Sullivan Stapleton will play the Greek general Themistokles, while Rodrigo Santoro will reprise his role as the imposing god Xerxes.

No word yet on when the production starts.
