WiFi iPod nano 7G Syncs with iCloud, Slated for October [Macotakara]

An iPad mini, a new iPod touch, and a seventh-generation iPod nano are in the cards for Apple’s “confirmed” October event this year, according to the latest rumors from Japan. The new nano is said to be equipped with a WiFi antenna for syncing music with Apple’s iCloud.

A major new product introduced with OS X Lion last year, iCloud replaces MobileMe to provide customers with an all-in-one solution that gets your digital life synced across all your portable devices and computers.

The service is being extended to iPod nanos this year, according to Japanese blog Macotakara which has provided accurate Apple leaks in the past.

The Japanese blog cites its sources as saying that “[The] Next iPod nano may equip Wi-Fi antenna on side of that case, and support iTunes Music Cloud in order Apple to provide a iconic product to promote the largest Music Store in the world.”

There have been several reports hinting at the upcoming availability of a new iPod nano this year, including one from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who said Apple would unveil the new player at a September event.

His estimates, published last month in a note to investors, also included a new version of the iPod touch, and the long-rumored iPad mini.

While Kuo’s industry checks may have yielded accurate information regarding the new products themselves, the analyst may have been off by one month as far as the launch event is concerned.

According to a number of reputable Apple watchers, as well as a new report from the Wall Street Journal’s All Things D blog, the Cupertino giant is holding not one, but two events this autumn.

September is said to be reserved solely for the iPhone 5 launch, with the remaining iDevice announcements planned for October, to avoid “diluting” the hype of the fifth-generation iPhone, pundits say.
