Unitcom Launches Affordable 27 WQHD IPS Monitor

It seems that not only IPS monitors are becoming more and more popular, but also higher resolution screens. Japanese maker Unicom has just launched a 27” IPS monitor for an amazingly affordable price.

The official model name for the new display is UNI-LCD27/WQHD and the WQHD moniker comes from the rated resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels.

WQHD is short for “Wide Quad High Definition” and it’s a standard discussed by the ATSC back in the 90s which is becoming more and more popular in the PC industry.

We’ve already reported about DELL’s new and somewhat affordable 27” WQHD monitor here and VideSonic’s VP2770-LED here, but we already know that these will be far more expensive than what Unicom is presenting today.

DELL’s unit has a slated price of $637 and that’s around 510 EUR.

The Japanese unit comes with good 350 cd/sqm brightness and the mediocre 1000 to 1 typical contrast ratio, but sports a good 80000 to 1 dynamic contrast capability.

On the connectivity side, the new UNI-LCD27/WQHD display from Unitcom is pretty well endowed as it brings DVI, HDMI, VGA D-Sub 15 and DisplayPort.
