Philips Shows 236G FullHD 3D LED Monitor

Philips has just introduced a new 3D LED monitor featuring a rather small 23” diagonal size. The new model is called 236G and you need Easy 3D glasses to be able to enjoy the 3D capabilities of the new unit.

We don’t really like 3D monitors at all, and this one is likely an “affordable” model – if you can call $308 (€249) affordable for a 23” computer display.

The official model number is 236G3DHSB, and the new monitor features mediocre TN display panel that sports the standard 1920 by 1080 FullHD pixel resolution and modest 170/160 viewing angles.

It comes with SmartResponse technology that gives out a 2ms response time, despite the unit having a typical response time specification of 5ms.

When watching 3D, the recommended viewing angles are quite modest – 80/12.

We must caution our readers that nowadays, most Philips-branded monitors are being manufactured by MMD Monitors & Displays.

MMD Monitors & Displays is a wholly-owned subsidiary of TPV Technology Limited.

TPV is a Hong Kong company that makes and sells AOC and Envision-branded monitors.

Currently, after it acquired a part of Philips’ monitor and entry-level flat screen TV business in 2005 and Chi Mei Optoelectronics Corporation in 2008, TPV is the largest display manufacturer in the world.

Therefore, Philips monitors might not be Philips at all, except for the brand name.
