People in Point Hope, Alaska Speak Against Shells Plans for the Arctic [Video]

Up until now, efforts channeled at safeguarding the Arctic from Shell's plans to drill in these regions focused on how various animal species will be negatively affected by the changes bound to occur in their natural habitat.

However, this video recently made public by the Greenpeace organization draws attention to the fact that the humans living in this remote part of the globe will also have to face significant threats to their traditional lifestyle.

Thus, the people from Point Hope, Alaska voice their concerns that Shell's drilling operations will take away the natural resources they now have at their disposal and which they need in order to support their families.

Moreover, the cultural heritage of this community could also be lost, as the people might be forced to leave their homes, should an accidental oil spill occur.

True, Point HopeĆ¢€™s population only revolves around 680 men and women, but this does not mean that they need not be listened to.
