Some new details about Mass Effect 3’s upcoming story-based Leviathan DLC have appeared on the web, revealing more info about Commander Shepard’s new adventure, who’s trying to find the mysterious Leviathan being that might hold the secret to destroying the Reapers.
We have already received an official description of the expansion from BioWare, but now some more details have appeared on Sony’s PlayStation blog.
According to the post, Shepard’s adventure is triggered by the death of Dr. Byson, the director of a research group tasked with finding unorthodox methods for destroying the Reapers, who’s murdered by an indoctrinated team member.
“Shepard’s journey to pinpoint the Leviathan’s whereabouts will require quite a bit of detective work. As you pursue leads and uncover ancient artifacts, you’ll gradually home in on the Leviathan’s position in the distant reaches of the galaxy,” said PS blog writer Sid Shuman.
“Jumping forward in the story, BioWare demonstrated a rip-roaring combat sequence set after Shepard lands on a distant planet (nope, they wouldn’t share its name) suspected of housing the fearsome being. Perched on top of a derelict space vessel floating amidst an angry sea, you’ll fight off a savage Reaper landing party, even hopping into a nearby Triton mech suit to unleash heavy firepower when the going gets tough.”
There will be plenty of interesting moments in Mass Effect 3: Leviathan, including an underwater sequence where Shepard controls the Triton mech in order to see what’s underneath the planet’s oceans.
No other details were given, but you can expect to hear more about Leviathan as we get closer to its launch in the following months on the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 platforms, for $10/€10/800 MS Points.
