LG Optimus 4X HD Now Up for Pre-Order in the UK

LG's Optimus 4X HD is about to make its debut in the UK. The smartphone was officially announced back in February at the Mobile World Congress 2012 and hit shelves in June.

Although none of the major carriers in the UK confirmed the upcoming release of the Optimus 4X HD, it appears major retailer Phones4U will be offering the handset for free from £26 a month on a choice of networks.

The black version of LG Optimus 4X HD is currently available for pre-order at Phones4U and is expected to arrive on August 27.

According to the retailer, the smartphone will be available in white color shortly after the black variant goes on sale.

It is also worth mentioning Phones4U gives first 50 pre-orders, including upgrades, tickets worth £100 to see Cheryl Cole perform live at the LG Arena in Birmingham on October 12.

LG Optimus 4X HD will be shipped with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box, but we're waiting for LG to confirm a Jelly Bean upgrade for this high-end Android smartphone.

The handset is pretty sleek at only 8.9mm and weighs 133g (battery included). The phone's main selling point is the large 4.7-inch True HD-IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 720 x 1280 pixels resolution.

In addition, the phone's screen features Corning Gorilla Glass coating for extra protection againast scratches and scrapes.

On the inside, the Optimus 4X HD includes 16 GB internal memory, 1 GB of RAM and a 1.5 GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor. Storage can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

The Optimus 4X HD also boasts an 8 megapixel BSI (Backside Illumination) Sensor camera with LED flash, autofocus and full HD (1080p) video recording. There's also as secondary 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.
