LCD TVs Will Be Cheaper in the Second Half of 2012

During the slow season (first quarter of 2012), it was natural for display sales to slow down, just like they did for everything else.

Panel makers didn't really manage to rebound in the second quarter though, which means they can only hope for the second half of the year to compensate for it.

That said, Samsung and LG will lower the prices of their regular LCD TVs, while concentrating their design inspiration on Smart TVs.

In contrast, AU Optronics will try to take advantage of growing demand for low-end tablet, smartphone and notebooks panels in emerging markets.

A final company mentioned by name by Digitimes is Chimei Innolux (CMI). Based in Taiwan, it is supposedly the largest supplier of TVs for China-based vendors.

In that region, 39-inch and 50-inch LCD TVs will be added to the existing 29-inch and 58-inch form factors.
