If diamonds can go on cakes and lingerie items, there's no reason they should not go just as well on your fingernails. Jeweler Azature has created the ultimate in nail polish luxury: a polish with black diamonds.
The new product isn't just incredibly expensive but also exclusive, because only one bottle will be released, Azature says in a press release cited by the Daily Mail.
While the original bottle will set you back $250,000 (€202,347) because it contains 267 carats of black diamonds, the “budget” versions will retail for just $25 (€20.2) because they will contain a single black diamond.
If we're to take a guess, we'd say it must be a very small one.
This latter version will also be available in black with a glittery sheen, and will go on sale in Fred Segal stores in LA.
Either way, Azature says the polish will put luxury at every woman's fingertips – and quite literally so.
“One day I thought, 'Why not showcase this style on nails?' So I developed a Black Diamond Nail Polish with the same attention and quality as my jewelry in order to preserve the elegance of the black diamond,” Azature is quoted as saying.
He explains that his offer is exclusively for those one percenters who are looking for unique ways of showing off their taste – and willingness to spend a fortune on it.
Since stranger things have happened – like that millionaire who bought the world's most expensive dessert just so he could eat it to cure his broken heart – chances are this new product won't lack potential buyers.
As for the cheaper version of the polish, Azature doesn't say much about it except for the above quote. Women splurging on such an item might also want to know whether it's resistant enough.
