Foxconn Increases Pay for iPhone, iPad Assemblers in Zhengzhou, China

A Foxconn production base in Zhengzhou, China which reportedly employs a whopping 150,000 workers has been on Terry Gou’s radar lately. The Chinese magnate has ordered a spike in pay for the workforce assembling Apple’s precious iPhones and iPads.

Foxconn Electronics reportedly announced a raise for employees at its production base in Zhengzhou, northern China, on August 23, “with the hike effective on August 1,” according to Taiwan’s DigiTimes citing China-based tech.163.com.

We’re pretty sure they meant September 1st there, but either way, it’s all good news for the 150,000 employees currently working at the Zhengzhou production facility assembling iPhones and iPads for Apple Inc. based in Cupertino, California.

The raises are for the production line workers and management personnel, the reports said. Newly-drafted workers will benefit from a reduced probation period from six months to three months, as well as a slight increase in starting monthly wage.

Foxconn has been heavily scrutinized in the past few years for allegedly mistreating its workers.
