Android 4.0.5 ICS for T-Mobile GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus Now Available for Download

T-Mobile USA and Samsung have just announced that an Android 4.0.5 Ice Cream Sandwich software update will be available for Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus beginning August 14.

According to the carrier, the software version T869UVLG7 is only available for download via Samsung Kies desktop software.

We’re not sure whether or not it will be an OTA (over the air) push available as well, but for the time being Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus should make sure they have the latest version of Kies installed on their PC or Mac.

Unfortunately, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus owners who do not have access to a computer won’t be able to upgrade their tablets with Ice Cream Sandwich, as there are no other options for this update at this time.

T-Mobile USA also says this is an “optional” update, but due to the fact that it will completely change the way users interact with the tablet, we definitely recommend installing it.

Moreover, this Ice Cream Sandwich update will be required in order to be able to use Media Hub after August 27, so those who wish to continue to have access to this service should make sure they upgrade to Android 4.0.5 ICS.

This update will upgrade the tablet’s software to version Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform and will introduce new features and improvements.

Before downloading and installing the update, make sure the tablet’s battery is at least 50% charged and that the USB Debugging option is active.

Obviously, back up any personal data that you have stored on the tablet, including the contents of the internal (non-removable) SD card, to prevent data loss. T-Mobile USA has also confirmed that this update will wipe the Home Screen layout.

For more details on all the changes this Ice Cream Sandwich update will bring to Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus check out T-Mobile USA’s support site.
