AMD FX-Series Vishera Specifications Found

Advanced Micro Devices will launch the Piledriver Bulldozer architecture in the fourth quarter of the year (Q4 2012), so, naturally, the information on it is already surfacing.

Today we have an update on the Vishera FX desktop processors, the so-called “flagship” CPUs of the second-generation Bulldozer.

WCCFtech found a consumer platform guide with the specifications of the processors, even the FX-8350 model.

We'll see to that one later though. First, we'll detail the other two FX units, with four and six cores, respectively.

The FX-4320 is the entry-level CPU, insofar as a quad-core with a clock speed of 4.0 GHz (4.2 GHz Turbo Core) can be considered low-end. Its TDP (thermal design power) is of 95W and the cache memory (L3) is of 4 MB.

The “middle” CPU is called FX-6300 and has six cores. The base clock speed is 3.5 GHz while the Turbo Core frequency can go to 4.1 GHz. The TDP is 95W and the cache is 6 MB.

And, finally, we reach the flagship Vishera FX Piledriver Bulldozer, the 8-core FX-8350, with a stock speed of 4 GHz and a Turbo Core setting of 4.2 GHz.

The cache memory is 8 MB and the TDP is, understandably enough, higher than on the other two: 125W.

We don't really know what prices the chips will bear, but they will be lower than those of the Intel Ivy Bridge CPUs they will compete against.

That said, all three CPUs will support AMD QuickStream technology, HD media acceleration, AMD Wireless Display (an Intel WiDi equivalent, for streaming to an HDTV), AMD HD3D and AMD App Acceleration.

WCCFtech says that there is a high chance of Piledriver being the last of the Bulldozer line, and the last high-performance CPU offering period. Had this benchmark been fully disclosed, we might have been able to speculate on the odds of this being true, but it was not. AMD, of course, has not commented in any way.
