BioWare has just confirmed that a free trial of its Star Wars: The Old Republic MMORPG is now available as a free download, allowing players to create their own characters and progress through the game’s story until level 15, without having an active subscription or anything else.
In order to draw in players, special free weekends were offered in recent months, but now BioWare has decided to let anyone interested in the game try it out for free thanks to a special trial.
“We are excited to announce the Star Wars: The Old Republic Free Trial. Now you will be able to live out your very own Star Wars saga with thousands of other players up to level 15 with no charge or time limit! The Star Wars: The Old Republic Free Trial allows individuals, without a previously active Star Wars: The Old Republic game account, to see a portion of what the game has to offer with no payment method required,” BioWare said about the new offer.
Quite a lot of features are offered to trial users, from regular, unrestricted gameplay to access into Player-versus-Player warzones and much more.
“Free Trial participants will experience the opening adventures of each of the eight character classes in the game. Players will explore their classes' Origin World, and may even have the opportunity to visit their faction’s Capital World! Additionally, Free Trial players will have the chance to face off against other players in Player-vs.-Player Warzones, or join up with friends and play through a Flashpoint,” the studio added.
Those who already participated in Weekend Pass Free trials or who have friends that are already paying a subscription can still try out the free experience.
If you decide to subscribe to the game, then you can continue playing with the character you created during the free trial.
