Microsoft Details New Features in Exchange Server 2013

Following the release of a preview flavor of its Office 2013 productivity suite last week, Microsoft has started to provide details on other products and services associated with the application that got updated recently.

Exchange is one of them, and a new flavor of the service is now available as a preview for Microsoft’s customers, with a nice range of new features and enhancements packed inside.

The new Exchange Server 2013 was released for all business users interested in it to get a taste of its latest improvements, while also providing them with access to the service preview of Office 365 Enterprise.

According to Microsoft, some of the main benefits of trying out the new preview release include:

- Remain in control, online and on-premises, by tailoring your solution based on your unique needs and ensuring your communications are always available on your terms.

- Keep the organization safe by protecting business communications and sensitive information in order to meet internal and regulatory compliance requirements.

- Increase productivity by helping users manage increasing volumes of communications across multiple devices.

Moreover, the new product also comes with optimizations for next generation of hardware, which results in reduced costs, while also being capable of reducing operational overhead for high availability.

According to Microsoft, Exchange Server 2013 was also optimized to decrease the amount of time IT professionals need for managing systems, courtesy of a single, easy-to-use, Web-based administration interface – the Exchange Administration Center (EAC).

Administrators will also be able to protect their systems against unexpected surges in traffic, while also benefiting from email protection against malware.

Through the new release, businesses will be able to migrate to the cloud on their own terms, while enjoying increased protection of their sensitive data and information. Users can easily be kept up to date on internal compliance policies with Data Loss Prevention (DLP) capabilities.

Sharing and collaboration work like a bliss with the new Exchange Server 2013, the Redmond-based software giant notes. Moreover, compliance officers will benefit from In-Place eDiscovery across Exchange, SharePoint, and Lync, all from a single interface.

Other improvements in the new product include a touch-optimized interface, support for offline work, and the possibility to import contacts from across networks and have them listed in a single place. Additional details on each of these features can be found in this blog post.
