Chrome Lost Market Share in June and Is Still Behind Firefox, Net Applications Believes

The differences between the two big sources of browser market stats are growing wider by the month. While StatCounter has been very optimistic about Chrome and now lists it as the most used browser in the world, Net Applications, which uses a different methodology, paints a very different picture.

According to its stats, Internet Explorer is still king, by a wide margin and, in fact Chrome is not only not the biggest it's actually losing market share. Firefox in the meantime managed to retain enough users to hold on to its second spot.

Net Applications puts IE's global market share at 54.02 percent in June, compared to 54.05 in May and 54.09 in April so it's safe to say that IE is not going anywhere. Chrome on the other hand went from 19.58 percent in May to 19.08 percent in June which would indicate that users are jumping ship.

But they're not jumping to IE, instead they've switched back to Firefox, which went from 19.71 percent to 20.06 percent in June, and some to Safari which went from 4.62 percent to 4.73 percent.
