AMD Engineer That Helped Making Trinity Now with Apple

We're a bit surprised Apple didn't make an announcement about it, but a certain former engineer from Advanced Micro Devices has now been recruited by the Cupertino, California-based company.

Normally, we wouldn't find it odd for a company to skip on making an announcement about a new staff member or employee. After all, IT experts switch employers all the time, especially engineers.

Still, like the folks at SemiAccurate, we can't help but feel that the hiring of John Bruno is particularly relevant.

After all, the man was part of Advanced Micro Devices until not too long ago, and he even contributed to the creation of the Trinity accelerated processing units.

Bruno's LinkedIn profile lists him as “System Architect at Apple”, which means he will probably take part in the rumored mobile and desktop processor research.

If nothing else, his expertise in multi-core processors will serve Apple when it needs to come up with high graphics performance and battery life at the same time.

Originally, Bruno was part of ATI (the graphics card manufacturer acquired by AMD several years ago) but he left the company back in November 2011.

For those who don't remember, AMD fired around 10% of its workforce, and Bruno was just one of the unlucky experts that had to leave.

For its part, Advanced Micro Devices seems to have weathered the change mostly well, although there are some curious delays that have us wondering about it.

As for Apple itself, it will doubtlessly make the best of this new “resource” in order to keep its year pleasant. 2012 has, thus far, proven to be reasonably lucrative, at least if one were to disregard complaints about its customer service and having practically been ordered to publicly apologize to Samsung and make amends. At least it has one senator on its side.
