New Cloud Fundamentals Video Focuses on Reliability in the Cloud

Microsoft has been long touting the features and capabilities that customers can benefit from when choosing to adopt one of its cloud services.

A recently published study showed that customers enjoy better security on cloud, as well as decreased costs associated with maintenance, but there are other aspects that they are interested in as well.

In addition to security, compliance and privacy in the cloud, many customers are interested in the reliability of such services, and they are perfectly right to do so.

When it comes to choosing a cloud provider, the reliability of the service is one of the most important decisional factors.

“Whenever I talk to customers these themes continually come through as important topics when choosing a cloud provider,” Tim Rains, director, Trustworthy Computing, Microsoft notes in a blog post.

“But I believe customers have an even more basic demand of their cloud vendor; they want a service that is reliable,” he continues.

When adopting the cloud, organizations need to take into consideration how reliable their cloud provider is. They also have to make sure that they set in place solutions to deal with incidents and events that compromise reliability when they occur.

In the latest video included in Microsoft’s Trustworthy Computing Cloud Fundamentals Video Series, Tim Rains discusses reliability in the cloud with David Bills, Microsoft’s Chief Reliability Strategist.

The discussion is focused on what being reliable in the cloud involves, as well as on the strategies that can be used for dealing with various incidents that may occur.

David notes that “incidents will happen – it’s not a question of if, it’s strictly a matter of when,” which means that customers need to be aware that, and also have to know how their cloud provider can handle these types of situations.

Have a look at the video embedded below to follow the entire discussion. You can also check on other installments of the Trustworthy Computing Cloud Fundamentals Video Series, to learn more on other aspects of cloud computing.
