PowerColors HD 7970 X2 Devil13 Has 17 Phases and DualBIOS

PowerColor’s Tahiti X2 initiative never ceases to amaze us. We’ve already seen it before here and here, but now the monster reveals its naked muscles.

The card is reportedly controlled by a PLX PEX8747 PCIe 3.0 bridge chip and a VRM comprised of 5+2+1 for each graphics processing unit (GPU).

All the components are very high-quality devices like Renesas Driver-MOSFETs, solid-state chokes and all-solid capacitors.

The card is fed with power from two 8-pin PCIe power connectors and features two DVI, two miniDP and one HDMI port on the three-slot I/O bracket.

On PowerColor’s marketing material there’s mention about the fact that its Devil 13 HD 7970 X2 is the “world’s first and only dual Tahiti XT” card.

This could mean that the GPUs come pre-overclocked and that, until now, no other manufacturer has such a design.
