The Google Street View Car Now Fits into a Backpack

Google's Street View has gone to plenty of places. The cars have scoured millions of miles, the trike goes where the cars can't, from Stonehenge to Versailles.

Google even has a snowmobile to hit the slopes and mountains. But now, it's going even beyond that with the Street View Trekker, a backpack-mounted Street View car.

With the Trekker, there is really no place Street View can't go and won't go.

"There’s a whole wilderness out there that is only accessible by foot. Trekker solves that problem by enabling us to photograph beautiful places such as the Grand Canyon so anyone can explore them," Google wrote.

The company has already started shooting with the Street View backpack, on the slopes. No doubt images captured with the device will start showing up in Google Maps and Earth later this year.
