TweetDeck Updated with Better Column Navigation and Management

When Twitter acquired TweetDeck, there were plenty of fears among loyal fans that the company would do something to wreck the product. Thankfully, that hasn't happened yet, Twitter realizes that it needs a client aimed at the top 10 percent users that create most of the content, the one relevant to a lot of people at least.

The latest update brings a couple of changes and some new features. The most noticeable change is a new way of managing columns. You now get a bottom scrollbar, so you can smoothly go from one end to the other without having to use the old "paged" method.

It doesn't seem like a revolution, but long time TweetDeck users will definitely be welcoming the change.

"Now your columns are arranged in one continuous horizontal row, allowing you to navigate smoothly left and right with the scrollbar," Twitter explained.

"You can scroll several columns at a time by clicking the arrows either side of the 'Columns' button on the top toolbar. You can also click the 'Columns' button to reveal the full list of all the columns in your TweetDeck and access any column immediately," it said.

Also new is the Columns button, which can help you navigate left and right, but can also be used to rearrange the columns.

Finally, TweetDeck is also making it user to do more with a tweet. There's now a menu button that reveals more options such as the ability to send a message, or follow that user from another account. That's where you'll find the permalink to the tweet as well as a shortcut to share it via email.

"A menu icon on every Tweet gives you instant access to more Tweet actions, like 'Create link,' and user-related actions, like 'Block.' This makes it possible report a user for spam, add an account to a list, delete your own Tweet, and much more, all without having to leave your main column view," Twitter said.
