TOSHIBA Set to Invest in Research and Development

Japanese technology giant Toshiba said recently that it was moving to increase its R&D expenditure and that it would start growing its research and software development head count. The company will start hiring in Europe, India, Japan and other areas with the scope of establishing a global R&D system.

Toshiba is planning to hire about 750 people in facilities outside the home country, trend that will continue until the spring of 2015.

Hiring 750 people over the course of the next three years and spreading these efforts over several continents is not much for a giant like Toshiba, but it’s good to see that they’re still investing in people, no matter how little they plan to.

The company reportedly also plans to increase the number of patents applications in overseas operations by about 30% to secure its intellectual property and also increase the revenue from IP licensing.
