Ever since Universal announced a fourth Bourne film, despite repeated assurances that it would stand separately from the Matt Damon trilogy, fans kept thinking it probably wouldn't.
To put your mind at ease, here's a new featurette that's meant to assure you that, indeed, this film only borrows from the previous installments, but doesn't rip them off.
The stars of “Legacy,” Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz and Edward Norton, together with writer / director Tony Gilroy, explain the plotline in broad strokes, with special emphasis on how “Legacy” is rather a continuation in a different direction of the story told in the trilogy.

“The Bourne Legacy” is meant to be the first installment of a new franchise carried entirely on Renner's shoulders. We'll see if he manages to handle this kind of pressure on August 10, when the film comes out.
