Nokia 808 PureView Gets Launched in South Africa

Unveiled back in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Nokia 808 PureView has just been introduced in South Africa.

Unfortunately, Nokia 808 PureView won’t be available in all regions. The Finnish company claims it only wants to test the smartphone market with this device, which is why it will only be launched in select countries.

Luckily, customers in South Africa will be able to purchase one of the best camera-phones on the market, the Nokia 808 PureView.

The smartphone is available in stores with Vodacom’s 24-month Business Call contract at R399 (50 USD to 40 EUR) per month. The contract package includes 250MB of data per month for 24 months.

Nokia 808 PureView is the first smartphone to come with Belle Feature Pack 1 operating system. The device is equipped with a 1.3 GHz single-core processor, a Broadcom BCM2763 GPU, 1GB of ROM and 512MB of RAM.

The handset sports a 4.0-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports 360 x 640 pixels resolution. Keep in mind that Nokia 808 PureView’s screen features ClearBlack display and Corning Gorilla Glass coating for extra-protection.

All in all, the phone’s main selling point is the 41-megapixel rear photo snapper that features Carl Zeiss optics, Xenon flash, autofocus and full HD (1080p) video recording.

Although Nokia 808 PureView packs 16GB of internal memory, users will be able to further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

The phone comes with microSIM support, HDMI port, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby headphone enhancement, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 A2DP.

Last but not least, Nokia 808 PureView drains battery from a 1400 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 465 hours of standby time (540 hours in 3G mode) or up to 11 hours of talk time (7 hours in 3G mode).
