Meditation Boosts Employee Productivity

University of Washington investigators believe that meditation may be an easy answer to a thorny issue, related to the methods that are best suited for increasing employee productivity. Managers have been trying to find a magic solution to this problem for centuries, to varied results.

UW computer scientist and professor David Levy, also the lead author of the new study, says that a new series of experiments has demonstrated that workers who practice meditation are able to focus better on the tasks at hand, and get distracted less often than their peers.

PsychCentral reports that all employees have to do is undergo a brief meditation training, and then practice what they were taught at their convenience. In addition to the benefits listed above, meditating can also reduce stress, and improve memory.

“Meditation is a lot like doing reps at a gym. It strengthens your attention muscle,” Levy says. What do you think about this? Do you practice meditation? Are there are any visible effects? Let me know in the comments below.
