Injustice: Gods Among Us Gets 15-Minute Gameplay Video

The development team at Netherrealm Studios, best known for their work on the Mortal Kombat franchise, have offered an extensive demo of their upcoming Injustice: Gods Among Us, allowing those interested to watch close to 15 minutes of gameplay.

Ed Boon, the leader of the company, narrates the entire video and talks about the philosophy that the team is using when building the fighting game for the audience at EVO 2012, offering information on how the various characters are balanced and how multiple arenas are designed to introduce variety to the matches.

Injustice: Gods Among Us uses the pantheon of DC Comic superheroes and villains and allows players to pick one of them and see how they match up against well-known figures like Superman or Batman.

I saw Injustice: Gods Among Us in action during E3 2012, and I came away impressed with what the game has to offer, even if it is currently in pre-alpha state.

The demo shown included Superman, The Flash, Batman and Solomon Grundy and each character was well animated and had a skill set that was well grounded in its comic book background.

Netherrealm Studios has previous experience working in the superhero fighting game genre from creating Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, which mixed some of the same characters with the likes of Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

The game was not well received by players and critics, but since then the team has regained its reputation with the Mortal Kombat reboot that was delivered during 2012.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is set to be launched on the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the development team is also planning to deliver a version for the new Nintendo Wii U home console.

The game will arrive during 2013, in the second half of the year.
