HTC Confirms Jelly Bean for One X, One XL and One S

Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has confirmed that it would provide an update to the latest Android platform release out there for the owners of its newest smartphones.

Previously, the company announced that it was looking into the matter, and that it still had to asses which devices could get a taste of the new OS.

Today, however, the handset vendor officially confirmed that the new software, none other than the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean platform, would be pushed out to HTC One XL, One X, and One S smartphones.

Unfortunately, no specific info on when the OS upgrade will start arriving on these handsets has been provided, but we can hope that it will happen sooner rather than later.

“We know HTC fans are excited to get their hands on Google’s latest version of Android. At this point in time, we can confirm that we have plans to upgrade our HTC One X, HTC One XL and HTC One S to Jelly Bean,” the handset vendor reportedly told Ausdroid.

“Please stay tuned for more updates regarding device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Jelly Bean.”

HTC was clearly referring to its Android device available in Australia, but that doesn’t mean that users abroad won’t receive the update. After all, the phone maker usually updates all units of a specific model, regardless of their location.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean has already started to roll out on other smartphones out there, such as the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S Google phones from Samsung.

Handset vendors such as Motorola, LG, Samsung, and more are expected to upgrade their latest handsets to the new OS, and HTC won’t miss this train either, it seems.

As mentioned above, it still remains to be seen how fast the update will arrive on devices. As usual, unlocked units are expected to receive it first, while carrier-branded models will have to wait a bit longer for it to arrive.
