FIFA Team Has Great Respect for Pro Evolution Soccer

The team behind Pro Evolution Soccer has recently suggested that some of the core elements of the current FIFA incarnation have been inspired by their own franchise, but the EA Sports team is not willing to retaliate via statements.

Nick Cannon, who is a producer at EA Sports, has told Eurogamer that, “We’re not going to stand here and say anything. We’re very respectful of PES and we understand we have a very strong competitor. We know they want to make a better game every year and ultimately that drives us forward.”

John Murphy, the leader of the PES team at Konami, has given an interview during which he suggested that entire mechanics in FIFA 12 have been lifted out of PES and that Electronic Arts has also used marketing in order to push its own game to the front.

The Konami executive has also admitted that his own franchise has sometimes failed to deliver on all its promises.

Matt Bilbey, the EA Sports’ overall football development leader, added, “I hope the management team in Japan appreciate what been giving to that franchise for a long, long time. He’s very, very committed and a great spokesman for the game. I feel for him sometimes, because I’ve worked with developers that it’s challenging to listen to, or they don’t necessarily listen to you.”

In FIFA 13 gamers will see more unpredictability and more mistakes, as well as improvements to Player Impact Engine and first touch, while PES 2013 will include smarter players and more precision movement and attack options.

FIFA 13 is set for a late September launch on all possible hardware devices from the PC to the Wii U and other home consoles.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 comes soon after that, in early October, also on a variety of devices.
