SoaSE Rebellion Diary: Behold My Titan

Sins of a Solar Empire is a real-time strategy game, which means that the player needs to use his attention resources and his ability to click to deal with multiple situations at the same time.

In order to allow players to sustain simultaneous offensives at a number of points, the developers at Ironclad Games have introduced the concept of capital ships, big units with a lot of hit points and special powers who lead attack forces.

Managing them well is crucial to any battle and any successful faction.

In the Rebellion standalone expansion, the team has added an even bigger and more threatening ship for all the six factions: the Titan.

Creating Capital ships only depended on resources and crew availability, but a Titan also asks the player to research four military techs, which means having at least four labs working and some resources he can invest.

The build process for the ship is also pretty long, but once complete, the Titan really is a game winner, the kind of ship that can lead the line, take the punishment, deal damage out and use its vast energy reserves to deploy abilities that simply have no match in the Sins of a Solar Empire game world.

I was talking about the TEC and their Loyalist faction the other day, when detailing the way the faction system is shaken up by the Rebellion expansion for Sins of a Solar Empire.

That Titan was awesome enough, with its abilities to stop enemy attacks against his supporting cast of ships, but I think I’ve found a big ship that I like even more.

Playing the Advent rebels you get access to the Coronata, an even nicer piece of machinery both when it comes to looks (Jesus in Brazil, anyone?) and to the abilities it offers in a big fight.
