Facebook Adds Bigger Photos to the Feed, an Idea Introduced in the Mobile Apps

Facebook has been criticized for its poor showing in the mobile space. For a company with hundreds of millions of daily mobile users, that's probably unwarranted.

Still, mobile hasn't been a priority until recently. Facebook is a large company now, whether it likes it or not, so things move a bit slower.

A sign that things are changing nonetheless is that a feature that first landed in the mobile apps is now making its way into the main site. The news feed will soon house much larger photos and more of them as the site plans to emphasize photos more in the feed.

This is already happening on mobile devices, photos in the feed are as wide as possible and they are grouped better as well.

It's not a completely original idea, but it's good that Facebook has done it. Instagram does the same as well as most other photo apps. Tumblr employs the same design. Even Google+ does it, possibly better than Facebook.
