All the Details on Miley Cyrus Engagement Ring

Miley Cyrus and her beau of 3 years, Liam Hemsworth, are engaged to be married, with the “Hunger Games” star proposing to her on May 31 with a gorgeous Neil Lane diamond ring. More details on the bauble have surfaced.

The other day, Miley herself confirmed the happy news to the press and on Twitter, where she also took the time to thank all her fans for the wonderful wishes they sent her way.

People has the inside details on the sparkler, which is a 3.5-carat diamond ring in which Liam invested a lot of time and effort.

He personally approached Lane to tell him he wanted “something unusual, something really beautiful and romantic,” the jeweler confesses for the celebrity publication.

After lots of research, the pair eventually settled on an antique, hand-cut diamond for which Lane proceeded to create a gold setting to complement it and better set it off.

“What The Hunger Games star got was a 3.5-carat cushion-cut diamond ring, handcrafted in 18-karat gold with intricately carved diamond floral motifs in an art nouveau pattern. And the center stone is extra special: it’s an antique dating back to the late 19th century,” People writes.

Lane underlines that the fact that the diamond is old and of extreme importance because it's the closest thing to perfection one can find today.

“It was hand-cut around 1880 or 1890 and it’s unique and in its original form. At that time no two diamonds were alike, as they were all hand-cut, so it’s fascinating to look at because it hasn’t been re-cut to look contemporary over the years. I find that really romantic,” he explains.

After they decided on using this particular diamond, Lane created the gold fitting and chose the smaller diamonds on it, positioning them in such a manner as to highlight the bigger stone.

“It’s a contemporary design based on vintage aesthetics. The light flashes and sparkles no matter where Miley moves her hand,” the jeweler gushes.

Miley and Liam met and fell in love while working together on “The Last Song.” They dated for a while and took a short break at some point. Since getting back together, they have been practically inseparable.

For the time being, no wedding date has been set.
