World of Warplanes Gets Clan Wars, Starts Tanks Integration

The Clan Wars mode that developer Wargaming has integrated into its MMO World of Tanks will also be added to the upcoming World of Warplanes, starting the process of integrating the gameplay of the two titles.

Sergey Ilyshyn, a game producer working on World of Warplanes, has stated during a Question & Answer session with the community that, “After all, there was a big war fought for dominance in the air in WWII in real life. So it makes sense to have this feature in the game as well.”

Oleg Gotnyam, the development director on the game, added, “With the arrival of World of Warplanes, we’ll be able to combine the worlds of tanks and planes on the global map. Not only will plane fighters fight on their own in Clan Wars, but they’ll also be able to interact and influence battles fought on a combined world map that’ll be populated and played both by World of Tanks and World of Warplanes players alike.”

The long-term ambition of developer Wargaming is to combine all its war-focused titles, including World of Warships, and offer a united Clan Wars mode which allows all three kinds of assets to be used on one map.

Of course, the full integration is well away as World of Warplanes is still in the beta stage and the team is still in the early development stages for World of Warships.

World of Warplanes allows the player to select from a range of aircraft that was used in the World War II period, from ground support to pure fighters, and then engage enemies on a number of stages specifically designed to allow both long range and close quarters engagements.

World of Warplanes is offered exclusively on the PC and it will probably be out of the beta stage before the end of the year.
