Resident Evil 6 Encourages Comparison with Fourth Game in the Series

During an interview about the upcoming Resident Evil 6 Hiroyuki Kobayashi, executive producer, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, a producer, and director Eiichiro Sasaki suggested that the team was aiming to deliver a game that is more successful than the fourth full installment of the series.

The team stated, “It was very well-received. But then if you look at RE5 it was actually our biggest Resident Evil game ever. So in that sense we were able to get the game into the hands of more players out there – probably a lot of new players as well.”

The Capcom executive added, “So there’s a lot of expectation from fans of both games really, so we’ve tried to listen to the feedback about what people liked about 4, and what they liked about 5, and follow up on that and try and incorporate that into the production of Resident Evil 6 and make something that really is appealing to all the fans.”

Resident Evil 4 was created by Shinji Mikami and the fans of the undead-powered series have widely stated that it was the best title in the franchise.

Resident Evil 6 tries to capture the best elements of that experience and infuse them in the three parallel stories that it will tell.

Gamers will be able to experience the same core narrative from a variety of viewpoints and, recently, the development team has revealed that Ada Wong would get her own separate campaign.

The multiplayer side of Resident Evil 6 will deliver the new Agent Hunt mode, which allows players to invade the games of other players.

Resident Evil 6 is set to launch on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PlayStation 3 from Sony on October 2 in both North America and Europe.

Capcom has also promised a PC version of the game, but it currently lacks a launch date.
