All of Dishonoreds Features Result in a Great Experience, Dev Says

Dishonored will be an impressive game, as Arkane Studios believes that all of its aspects, ranging from the first-person view to the stealth or upgrade mechanics, combine to form a great interactive entertainment experience.

Dishonored is one of the most intriguing titles that will appear this year, offering a first-person action experience similar to the likes of Deus Ex or BioShock, while putting a heavy emphasis on stealth, like the old Thief titles.

According to Harvey Smith, the
co-creative director of Dishonored, he and his team at Arkane Studios have worked hard on making sure that all of the game’s aspects, whether it was the first-person view or the RPG-like upgrade system, work well together and deliver a great experience.

“It’s a matter of falling back on values,” Smith told the PS blog about Dishonored’s gameplay. “We generally like the first person perspective – to give you that ‘you are there’ thing. We like RPG upgrade systems. We like analog AI, so enemies are not necessarily aware of you or unaware of you – they’re uncertain. They may have heard you, but they’re not sure, so they go and investigate. Surfing the edge of awareness, basically. “

“We love highly mobile games; we don’t like games where you’re heavy and stuck on the ground and you have big weapons and you can’t get on top of buildings as they’re just props. We really want you to be able to flit up there like a flea.”

Dishonored has already attracted quite a lot of people after being shown at E3 2012 and at Gamescom 2012 this summer, but also through some very impressive gameplay videos that showed off the array of choices that can be made by the player when trying to take out an enemy.

You can expect to hear more about Dishonored and its varied gameplay as we get closer to its October release on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
