PC Version of Dishonored Will Have Special User Interface

The PC version of the upcoming Dishonored action adventure title will have its own user interface, specifically designed to allow gamers more control over their characters̢۪ movement and abilities via the mouse and keyboard setup.

Raphael Colantonio, who is the co-director working on Dishonored alongside Harvey Smith, has told PC Gamer that, “Our background is very PC for sure, and now in this game we have a mix of strong console players and fans, and also hardcore PC people.”

He went on to add, “So both sides are very influential, and in the end, yes, the PC has its own different interface.”

Despite the different UI for the PC version, the development team at Arkane Studios insists that those who choose to play the game on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 will get a solid experience via the controller-based scheme.

Harvey Smith added that Arkane Studios, the team that he co-founded, is strongly linked to the PC and adhering to its standards is like a “religion” to those working on Dishonored.

Dishonored is focused on Corvus, an elite bodyguard who has been charged with a murder he did not commit and who needs to prove his innocence.

As a supernatural-powered assassin, the character has access to a number of special powers, ranging from the ability to blink over small distances to possession of other bodies, and to a range of weapons, from a silent crossbow to spike grenades.

During the E3 2012 hands-on time I got with Dishonored, it was a bit hard to handle all the options via the Xbox 360 controller and I suspect that players who loved titles like Thief and Deus Ex might need to pick up the PC version of the game.

Dishonored is set to be launched on the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 in early October.
