Glu Mobile Believes in Windows Phone 8s Success

Microsoft is getting ready to bring to the market a new version of its mobile operating system, Windows Phone.

Codenamed Apollo, the next flavor of the OS, Windows Phone 8, should deliver a deal of new features and capabilities, including support for higher-end hardware.

This will enable software developers to come up with more appealing and demanding applications and games, and some are already determined to take advantage of that, it seems.

Among them, we can count Glu Mobile, a popular publisher of mobile games, which already released a series of titles for the Windows Phone platform.

In a recent interview with FierceMobileContent, Niccolo De Masi, CEO of Glu Mobile, said that the company had high hopes regarding its software on Windows Phone 8.

“We had something like three of the first 10 games on Windows Phone 7 last year. We’re bullish on Windows Phone 8,” Niccolo De Masi said when asked about gaming on the next version of the platform.

Some of the latest analyst reports out there suggested that Windows Phone is about to start gaining massive ground on the smartphone market, mainly at the expense of Android, which is set to peak this year.

Glu Mobile too believes that Windows Phone is slated for success, and that it will join Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS at the high-end of the market.

“In the long term I find it hard to believe that the three largest technology companies in the world, Apple, Google and Microsoft, will not be very significant market share leaders in the smartphone and frankly the laptop, tablet, living room platform wars,” Niccolo De Masi stated.

There are 4 Glu games available for Windows Phone users via Xbox Live, one of which is Bug Village, the very first title on the platform to provide in-app purchase capabilities to users.

Gaming on Windows Phone 8 should be leveraged through providing developers with access to the use of native code. Thus, titles would be ported to the platform easier than before, and performance optimizations will also be possible.
