Flipboard Adds Google+ Integration via a Private API

Google+ has been criticized for lacking a platform one year after launch. It's been criticized for a lot more than that, but this is one of the initial complaints and is still very much valid. What's more, Google has no plans to unveil an API any time soon, it wants the timing to be right, whatever that means.

But it is enabling at least some developers to tap into Google+, via private APIs. There are a bunch of games on Google+, though some developers are calling it quits, and now Google has announced that it's partnering with Flipboard to allow the app access to the Google+ stream.

Google is already enabling several similar apps access, Buddy Media, Hootsuite, Context Optional, Hearsay Social, Involver and Vitrue are all partners.

What the integration brings is the ability to share Flipboard items on Google+, to specific circles, or to +1 items in their Flipboard stream.
