E3 2012: Third Game Idea First Person Convention

I have now gone through three days of E3, from opening to closing hours, and I am ready to deliver a game idea that is all about navigating such an event: called First Person Convention.

The game will allow any fan who hasn’t had the chance to experience the E3 convention to try it, with different game modes offering variations on objectives and a level selector allowing them to choose the year they would like to see.

From first person, gamers will be able to sit through interviews, witness previews, stand in queues, pass out from exhaustion and generally see how different kinds of visitors experience the phenomenon of E3 (other conventions could be sold later via downloadable content).

Objectives could include getting through all the days without getting hit upon the head by a camera (hard) or simply going through a day without once swearing to never visit E3 again (medium difficulty, depends on special in-game events).

One of the biggest challenges for First Person Convention will be to select the types of characters that it wants to simulate and then create appropriate models, behaviors and special abilities for each of them, from the teenager who got an invitation from a friend to the grizzled old veteran who has even seen the days of the booth-babe-less E3.

A truly ambitious developer will create a nimble yet simple character creation system that will allow gamers to initially pick a body type and then add characteristics, ranging from resistance to fatigue to the ability to shoot video in a crowd, and peripherals, from cameras to sharp pens and weird hats.

If the game is successful, the developer might also add a third-person mode at a later date, allowing gamers to better see how they are integrated into the E3 space and how the various character models they choose affect the world around them.
