Cyberpunk Will Have Leaner Story Path, More Sidequests

With The Witcher, CD Projekt delivered two of the best role-playing games of the last few years and, despite the success, the company understands how it needs to make its style evolve in order to make their next project, Cyberpunk, an even greater success.

Marcin Iwinski, who is the chief executive officer of CD Projekt and one of the founders of the company, has told Gamasutra that, “In The Witcher 1, for example, we were throwing people in the middle of the story, and we assumed that players would know what is happening! But a lot of players told us that they didn't really understand this relationship or that relationship.”

He says that the entire team understands that they need a gentler learning curve for the majority of players and plans to use the experience they have earned for their next big project.

Cyberpunk will be based around a tabletop game, but CD Projekt will make sure that they only adapt the elements of the game and the universe that will be attractive to players.

The CEO added, "And that's what we want to capture. In we want to create a story that is very profound, but the novice players should be introduced to better than they were in The Witcher 2.”

The critical story path of Cyberpunk will be balanced and will only expose the player to some of the backstory and the universe of the original material.

For those who are interested in seeing more, the development team is creating new quests, characters and areas that can be explored via a deep sidequest system.

This should make the game attractive to a wider audience than The Witcher managed to target.

Cyberpunk is officially unveiled, but no clear details have been offered about it yet, apart from a near future focus.
