Trillian, the cross-platform instant messaging app that keeps your chats synchronized between all your devices, has been promoted to version 2.0 which brings more enhancements than you have fingers to count.
Avid users of Trillian will notice a neat launchpad that shows you the people who are most important to you. The contact list is still available, searchable, and sortable, says Cerulean Studios.
For security-aware users, Cerulean has taken additional steps to secure all traffic coming from the app using the TLS standard, “meaning all of your chats are now protected from third-party eavesdropping.” Meaning that, previously, they weren’t? Hmm...
Moving on to the user interface, from minor graphic updates to orientation changes, pretty much every screen has been reworked.
Notifications now pop up in-window, “to let you easily read messages from more than one person at a time.”
A “mobile” indicator is now available for those who use the Trillian chat network from their phone.
Users can now instruct Trillian to save photos as they send them to others, this being a common request that Cerulean has ceded to.
Other enhancements include new emoticons, full support for the iPad, and the ability to send invites to use Trillian.
“You can now invite your friends to use Trillian from within the app if you have their phone number,” says Cerulean. “Even cooler, when your friends join Trillian and approve your add request they will automatically sign online without the need to exchange usernames!”
Trillian is now universal, meaning you get to install the same app on all your iOS devices. The software is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 4.0 or later.
