There's a JavaScript Nintendo 64 Emulator, to Play Super Mario in the Browser

Earlier this week we showed you a Game Boy Color emulator written entirely in JavaScript. If you thought that was impressive, then this will be truly epic, a Nintendo 64 emulator written in, you guessed it (or you read the title), JavaScript. Super Mario and friends are getting a lot of web love.

Now, before you get too excited, the project is a work in progress to say the least. It works, but it's rather slow and there are plenty of bugs. Realistically, even its creator doesn't think it's going to be feasible to play N64 games smoothly in the browser any time soon.

But the very fact that it's working, booting games and running them should be proof enough that the browser and web technologies are becoming incredibly powerful. You can read more about the project from its creator or give it a spin here. The code is available as well.
